Basic Submarine Sandwich Oil

Tangy, oil-y, with Italian seasons and salt + sugar to balance.
Prep Time: 5 minutes
Marry Time in the Refrigerator: 30 minutes
Total Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup canola oil
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon regular table salt
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • In a bowl combine oil and vinegar.
1/2 cup canola oil, 1/4 cup red wine vinegar, 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
  • Then add the salt and sugar and ensure they dissolve.
1/2 teaspoon regular table salt, 1 teaspoon white sugar
  • Then add the rest of the dry ingredients - whisking until well combined.
1 teaspoon dried oregano, 1 teaspoon dried basil, 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder, 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Put into a squirt bottle or similar storage container. Refrigerate for 30 minutes to allow flavors to marry.
  • Shake well before using and store in the refrigerator.

Notes

If you don't want to use canola oil, use vegetable, grapeseed, or safflower oil.
I've tried Avocado and it's not nearly as "neutral" as most people like to say but it can work OK.
