Burger sauce is WICKED forgiving and only requires 3 main ingredients: Mayo, Ketchup, and Mustard.

Get creative – I’m a big fan of pickles and my sauce reflects that.

Ingredients for Wicked Simple Burger Sauce

  • 1/2 cup Mayo
  • 1 tablespoon (2 or 3 pickle chips) dill OR bread and butter pickles, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon pickle juice/brine liquid*
  • 1/2 tablespoon dijon mustard**
  • 1/2 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne

Recipe notes:

*Not a huge fan of pickles? Omit this one.

**If you don’t have dijon, just use yellow mustard.

Any ingredients you don’t have, omit; Same with anything you don’t like.

The main ingredients to keep are mustard, ketchup, and mayo.

In a bowl, combine all the ingredients and mix well.

Other Ingredient Inspiration

Other “stuff” I’ve tested and added to my burger sauce recipe above:

  • Using gherkins instead (pickles and/or brine liquid)
  • 1 tsp white sugar
  • 1-2 tsp of honey
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp onion powder
  • Using no mustard and adding 1-2 tsp white vinegar + 1/2 tsp dry mustard
  • Using no mustard and adding 1-2 tsp of ACV
  • Using no cayenne and adding 1-2 tsp of your favorite hot sauce or sriracha
  • Swapping equal amounts of chipotle or ancho chile powder for the cayenne
  • Using smoked paprika instead of regular
  • Chopped caramelized onions
  • Adding 2 tbsp of sour cream
  • Adding 1-2 tbsp of water to thin the sauce

Get creative, and add your favorite ingredients in small quantities.

Pickle-y, Mayonnaise-y, Savory, with a Kick of Heat

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Mayo
  • 1 tablespoon 2 or 3 pickle chips dill OR bread and butter pickles, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon pickle juice/brine liquid
  • 1/2 tablespoon dijon mustard
  • 1/2 tablespoon yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon ketchup
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne

Instructions

  • Take the listed ingredients and add them to a bowl and whisk them together.

Notes

Not a huge fan of pickles? Omit this ingredient.
